We handle the business. You make the mail.
Good Post Co runs the money side of your mail club. We register for sales tax wherever it’s owed, collect it and file it. The card fees come out of our 10%, not your share. Receipts, refunds and paying you are ours too, so you can spend your time on letters, not spreadsheets.
How it works
You apply
Tell us about your club — what you send, how often, and what it costs.
We set it up
We create your club, your plans, and a page for it. You accept our agreement and connect your bank through Stripe.
Subscribers join
People pay Good Post Co to join your club. We collect the payment, work out the tax, and send the receipt.
You get paid, and you mail
You make the letters, prints, stickers, or postcards, and send them. After each mailing goes out, we pay you what it earned.
What Good Post Co handles
- Taking payment from your subscribers
- Sales tax, start to finish: working it out, collecting it, and paying it to the state
- Receipts, every time someone pays
- Refunds and payment disputes
- Auto-renewal rules and disclosures
- Address changes, so your list stays current
- Paying you after each mailing goes out
- Your year-end tax form, when the IRS requires one
What you do
You make the mail. Letters, prints, stickers, postcards — whatever your club sends, you make it and get it in the mail. Everything else on this page is ours to run.
Sales tax is ours, not yours.
Sales tax feels overwhelming to a lot of creators starting a club, but it doesn’t have to be. We handle all of it for clubs on Good Post Co, and we explain how it works for anyone who wants to understand it.
What it looks like for a small club
- Selling on your own, you’d collect in your home state from your first sale. Other states count you once your sales there pass a threshold, which in most states is a dollar amount for the year.
- The wrinkle: some states count sales instead of dollars, 200 a year. Monthly billing adds up. 17 subscribers in one state is 204 charges a year.
- What’s taxable varies by state, and the tax follows where the mail goes, not where you live. A letter on its own may or may not be taxed. Put a print or a sticker in the envelope, and many states treat the whole thing as goods.
What we do about it
- We are the seller on every membership, so the sales tax is legally ours, not yours. Our agreement with you says so too.
- Keeping track as you grow is our job, never yours.
- Wherever a state requires us to register, we register, and from then on we collect and file its tax.
- We work out the right tax for each subscriber’s address, show it at checkout and collect it.
- You never register for sales tax, collect it, or file a return for memberships sold through us. If a state has questions, it asks us.
- Your subscribers pay the tax on top of your price, so it never comes out of your share.
- One thing to know: because we count every club’s sales together, we may have to collect in a state sooner than you would on your own. Some of your subscribers may see tax with us that they wouldn’t if they bought from you directly.
Handling it is part of our 10%. There is nothing extra to pay.
This is general information, not tax, legal or financial advice. We do our best to get it right, but we can make mistakes and rules change. Check with your state’s tax agency or a qualified professional before you rely on it.
10% all-in. No monthly fee.
We take 10% of what your subscribers pay, before sales tax. No setup fee, no monthly fee.
Once a club passes $5,000 a month, the rate drops to 7% on everything above that.
We pay the card-processing fees ourselves, out of that percentage. One cost passes through at exactly what Stripe charges us: the fee when a subscriber disputes a charge with their bank. Nothing else, and nothing marked up.
On a $12 monthly membership
- Your subscriber pays $12, plus sales tax where it applies.
- You get $10.80.
- We keep $1.20, and the card fees come out of that, not out of yours.
- The sales tax goes to the state. It’s never part of your $10.80 or our $1.20.
What that percentage covers
- Card processing (we pay the fees, not you)
- Sales tax: worked out, collected, and paid to the state for you
- Receipts and mailing history for every subscriber
- Refunds and dispute handling
- Auto-renewal compliance
- Tiers, each with its own price, counted and printed separately
- Labels and envelopes printed from your studio
- Updates by email to your members and followers, with no tracking
- A member limit and a waitlist, if you want them
- Your payout after each mailing
