Cancellation & Refund Policy

Version 2026-10-01. Effective 1 October 2026.

This is how you stop a membership, and when money comes back. It is part of the Terms of Sale.

How to cancel

Sign in at https://goodpostco.com/account and click cancel on the membership you want to end. One click. No phone number, no form, nobody trying to change your mind.

If you would rather ask a person, email support@goodpostco.com from the address on your account and we will do it the same working day.

What cancelling does

For a monthly or yearly membership, it stops the next charge, and every charge after that.

For a prepaid membership or a gift, there is no next charge to stop, so cancelling ends it early instead, and we refund the months that have not been mailed: each one is an equal share of what you paid, tax included. The refund goes back to your card straight away, and always within 7 working days. A month already past the club's cutoff is being printed; it still comes, and it is not refunded. For a gift, only the person who paid can cancel, and the refund goes to them.

The mail you have already paid for still comes. If you have paid for this month, this month's envelope is made and posted as normal. We do not take back something you have paid for, and we do not refund the part of a month you did not use, because a month of a mail club is one envelope and not a number of days.

Your membership shows as ending after its last mailing until the day it actually ends, and until that day you can un-cancel it with one click and carry on as though nothing happened.

Nothing about cancelling is a punishment. You can come back later and start again at whatever the price is then.

Pausing, and skipping a month

Pausing and skipping are different things, and it matters which one you pick.

  • Pause stops the billing and the mail together. Nothing is charged while you are paused, nothing is sent, and your place in the club is kept. Turn it back on whenever you like. Pausing is for monthly memberships only. A yearly or prepaid membership is already paid for, so pausing it would only stop letters you have bought; skip a month instead, or cancel so it does not renew.
  • Skip takes you out of one month's mailing. It does not stop that month's payment. Use it when you are away and would rather the envelope did not sit in a hallway — not as a way to pay less.

If what you want is to pay nothing for a while on a monthly membership, pause. If you are not sure, email us and we will set it the way you meant.

When we refund

These are the cases where money comes back, without argument:

  • A duplicate charge. Charged twice for the same month, always refunded in full.
  • Charged, and nothing was mailed. If a club took your money for a month and never sent that month's mail, you get that month back in full.
  • Our mistake. Wrong plan, wrong amount, charged after you cancelled, charged after you asked us to stop. Full refund, and we fix the cause.
  • A club that stops or closes. If a club's mailing is more than 7 days late, or the club stops or closes, we refund every mailing you paid for and did not get. We do this ourselves, without you asking, within 7 working days, whether or not the creator has paid us back. For a yearly or prepaid membership, each unsent mailing is worth an equal share of what you paid, tax included: on a $110 year, $9.17 a mailing plus its tax. A gift is refunded to the person who paid for it. If your first letter will be later than the date we gave you at checkout, we email you before that date with the new date (or to say we don't know it yet) and a one-click way to cancel for a full refund. If the new date is more than 30 days after the first one, or we don't know it yet, we cancel and refund unless the letter goes within those 30 days or you tell us to keep waiting. If it is late a second time, we cancel and refund unless you tell us to keep waiting.
  • It never arrived, twice. A mailing that goes missing gets a free replacement — at least one per mailing, and some clubs allow more. If the replacement goes missing too, we refund that month rather than posting a third.
  • It arrived damaged or wrong. A replacement first, and a refund if the club cannot replace it.
  • You changed your mind before the cutoff. If you ask before your club's cutoff day and nothing has been printed with your name on it, we refund that month and cancel.

Tax is refunded with the payment. A refund always includes whatever sales tax you were charged on the part being refunded.

When we do not refund

  • After the cutoff, for a change of mind. Once the cutoff day passes, your envelope is part of a batch somebody is printing and packing. That month is yours: it still comes, and it is not refunded. The next one will not be charged.
  • Because you did not like what was inside. What goes in the envelope is the creator's to choose, and taste is not a fault. This is the one to weigh up before you join a club rather than after.
  • Because mail went to an old address you did not update. We send exactly what is on your account. Tell us anyway — we will usually do something.
  • Someone else's gift. A refund on a gift goes to the person who paid for it, never to the person receiving it. See the Gift Subscription Terms.

Anything not on either list is our call, and we lean towards yes. If you think you should have your money back, say so. It costs us less to refund you than to be right at you.

How a refund reaches you

Refunds go back to the card that paid, through Stripe. We start it within one working day of agreeing to it; your bank usually takes another five to ten working days to show it. We cannot make that part faster, and neither can Stripe.

We will not send a refund anywhere other than the original card. That is a fraud rule, not an inconvenience — it is what stops somebody else's stolen card paying for a membership and the money coming out somewhere new.

Card disputes

If something is wrong, email us first. A dispute filed with your bank takes weeks, costs everybody money, and freezes the membership while it runs. We can almost always sort the same problem out in a day.

If you do file one, we will answer it with what we have: the receipt, the consent you gave at checkout, the address we shipped to and the date we shipped it.

If we cancel your membership

We may end a membership if a payment cannot be taken after we have tried and emailed you about it, if the address is not one we can mail to, if a club closes, or if someone is abusive to the people who make the mail.

If we end your membership for any reason other than your own conduct, we refund whatever you have paid for and not received.
